Features: Heartwood color is variable, ranging from a very pale pink to a deeper reddish brown, sometimes with streaks of medium to dark reddish brown. Color tends to darken with age. Quartersawn surfaces can also exhibit a ribbon-stripe appearance.

Trees and distribution:Large trees,up to 31-40m,more than 2m in diameter,distributed in the West Africa and South tropical Africa.

Material: Rated as moderately durable; moderate to poor insect/borer resistance.Easy to work, glue, and finish. Tearout can sometimes be a problem if the grain is interlocked.No characteristic odor. Fresh 700-800 kg/m3, at 12% moisture content 540 kg/m3.

Applications: Furniture, joinery, paneling for yachts, windows, frames, doors, knobs and handles, veneer.etc.
